Customize your Slack bot

Your Slack support experience should feel like an extension of your brand, not a third-party tool. Plain lets you customize your Slackbot’s name and logo, so every interaction feels familiar, professional, and on-brand.

Customizing your Slack bot

Step 1: Set your logo and public name in workspace settings

  1. Go to Settings → General in Plain.

  2. Upload a logo and set your public name (usually your company name).

Your logo will now appear:

  • In the chat widget (if no separate logo is set for the chat app)

  • Inside the Plain web app

  • In unread message email notifications

  • On autoresponder messages sent via Slack

Your public name will be used wherever your customers see bot messages – making it clear they’re speaking with your team.

Step 2: Change the Slack bot name (optional)

You can also rename the Slack bot directly in Slack:

  1. In Slack, go to Configuration → Bot User

  2. Click Edit

  3. Update the name as needed

Note: The name set in Plain’s workspace settings takes precedence. If there's a mismatch, the Plain-configured name will be used when replying to customers.
