Authentication

The Plain Help Center has 3 high-level modes of access control you can select from. In the "General" tab of your Help Center settings, you will find a section called "Access". Here are 3 options:

  1. "Everyone" - Public access

  2. "Authenticated Customers" - Limited access for your customers; more on this below

  3. "Your Team and AI Agents Only" - Only your Plain users and 'Machine Users' have access

Authenticated Customers

If you select the second option, "Authenticated Customers", a new access list section will appear in the settings. Here you can define limits on the customers which can access your Help Center. We currently allow gating access based upon Customers, Tiers, Tenants, and Companies the user may be a part of.

These rules are defined independently from one another, i.e. as if they were run with "OR" between them.

An example use-case could be that you only provide access to your Help Center to "Premium" tier customers. Select the "Premium" option in the "Tiers" select menu.
