CRMs

Plain’s CRM integrations brings your customer and account data into Plain, so your team has full context on the customer and the account as soon as a thread starts.

Note: All CRM integrations – including Salesforce and Hubspot – are available on our Grow and Scale plans.

Salesforce

What Gets Imported

Once connected, Plain will automatically sync:

  • Contacts → Customers – All your Salesforce contacts become customers in Plain

  • Accounts → Tenants – The accounts those contacts belong to are synced as tenants

Any new contacts or accounts created in Salesforce will continue syncing to Plain automatically.

Sync Behavior

Plain will only create new records – it won’t overwrite existing ones. Here’s how the sync logic works:

  • If a contact already exists in Plain, we won't update their name or details

  • If you modify a customer or tenant in Plain after syncing, Salesforce won’t overwrite your changes

  • If a contact is added to a Salesforce account, we’ll add them to the corresponding tenant in Plain

  • If a contact is removed from a Salesforce account, we’ll leave the tenant relationship intact in Plain

Getting Started

  1. Go to Settings → Salesforce importer

  2. Follow the prompts to connect your Salesforce account – it only takes a few clicks

  3. Your existing data will begin syncing into Plain

New contacts and accounts will continue to sync automatically moving forward.

To stop syncing data, head back to Settings → Salesforce importer and click Disconnect.

  • The Salesforce importer does not trigger auto-responses or webhooks

  • It’s designed to maintain data integrity and respect any edits you make inside Plain

Hubspot

The HubSpot importer makes it easy to bring your customer and company data into Plain – giving your support team the context they need to move fast and deliver high-touch service without switching tools.

What Gets Imported

When you connect your HubSpot account to Plain, we’ll import:

  • Contacts → Customers – All HubSpot contacts become customers in Plain

  • Companies → Tenants – The companies linked to those contacts become tenants in Plain

Sync Behavior

Plain’s importer is designed for safe, one-way syncing:

  • We only create new records – we never update or overwrite existing ones

  • If a contact is updated in HubSpot (e.g. their name changes), that change will not be reflected in Plain

  • If a contact or tenant is modified in Plain, future syncs from HubSpot will respect those changes

  • If a contact is associated with a company in HubSpot, they’ll be added to the corresponding tenant in Plain

  • If a contact is removed from a company in HubSpot, we won’t remove them from the tenant in Plain

Getting Started

  1. Go to Settings → HubSpot importer

  2. Follow the instructions to connect your HubSpot account – it only takes a couple of clicks

  3. Once connected, your existing data will sync into Plain

  4. After that, new contacts and companies in HubSpot will continue syncing automatically

To stop syncing, return to Settings → HubSpot importer and click Disconnect.

We will only create new records in Plain, we will never update existing ones:

  • once a contact is synced into Plain, further changes to that contact in HubSpot (e.g. changing their name) will not be synced into Plain

  • if a customer or tenant is modified on Plain after syncing them from HubSpot, further syncs from HubSpot will not override your changes on Plain.
