Guest Channels

You can use Plain in guest channels, however, you must coordinate with the host organisation administrator to upload our custom app .zip.

What You Should Do

  1. Contact the right person

  • Reach out to a team owner or member from the host organization

  • Ask them to install our custom Teams app. The .zip file can be found in the Plain settings under Channels -> Microsoft Teams.

  1. Provide what they need

  • Send them our app's `.zip` file

  • Share the "For Organization Admins" section below with them

  1. Add the app to your channels

  • The host organization will handle uploading the zip and making the application available for you to select

  • Once the app has been uploaded, navigate to the Team Management tab by selecting "Manage Team" in the overflow menu next to any Team in the list of Channels

  • Navigate to the "Apps" tab and click "Get more Apps". There you will see the Teams App store. On its main page there you should see a section titled "Built for your org" under which you will find "Plain"

  • Click on the "Add" badge next to Plain and then select which channels it should be a member of

  1. Test the app

  • Once installed, navigate to the team/channel where the app was added

  • Verify all functionality works as expected
